In my extra music lessons I am currently learning 'Wake Me Up'. During my lessons my music teacher helps me with the placing of my fingers. Sometimes he also helps me move from chord to chord quicker.

In today's music lesson I have completed the first part of the tune. Next lesson I am going to learn the chords for the first part and slowly get to the right tempo. To do this it will take a few lessons, but I plan to learn the chords and get the tempo right in two lessons.

In today's music lesson I have started to learn the second part of 'Wake Me Up'. I am picking up the tune quite quick. I should get the second part done quite quick.

This music lesson we recorded my progress. I am very confident with what I was learnt last lesson. It is much more fluent and I know what keys to press and when I need to press them.

Today I was learning the half of the second part of 'Wake Me Up'. I was having trouble finding it hard changing the position of my hand quick enough for the notes.

I have completed the first part of 'Wake Me Up' using both hands, but I need to practice to become quicker in changing chords. Next lesson I need to start on the melody of the chorus and practice using both hands to complete the chorus.

Today I was reminding myself with the notes in the right hand. I need to practice the C & D scales and make the sound bigger.

I have learnt the C and D scale but I need to work on the timing (needs to be even all the way through), I need to work on how loud I play. I have to practice all of 'Wake Me Up' in the right hand and slowly adding in the chords.

I have completed the entire melody for 'Wake Me Up' I just need to practice the chorus and try to remember the entire melody. I need to practice the D scale in my left hand, both down and up. I also need to practice the chords ready for next week.

I completed 4 lines of 'Wake Me Up' with both hands. I need to practise with both chords and melody so it can become easier to do. If I can get better at using both hands I will find it easier to complete the rest of the song. I need to practise the D scale in both hands.

Today I completed 6 lines of 'Wake Me Up' with both chords and melody. It was a lot smoother than last week's practise. I still need to work on how hard I press the keys on the piano because I am too quiet. I need to practise the entire verse but, I need to practise the parts I get stuck on first so I can get past it quicker. I NEED to practise the D scale in my left hand and try to increase the sound a little bit.

Today I finished 8 lines of 'Wake Me Up' with both chords and melody. Since the last music lesson I have not gotten any better with 'Wake Me Up'. I got the D scale in both hands, that went quite smoothly. I need to remember the chorus melody.

As it was sports day today Mr Eldred had to come and find us on the field. We had to recap some of the song as I forgot some of it. I wasn't really very concentrated; that was a problem.

I completed 8 lines of 'Wake Me Up' quite smoothly using both hands. I got the D scale in both hands together, it went really slowly but really well. We are still working on the chorus but I will get to the end and be able to remember it eventually. I recorded the 8 lines and messed up a few notes. At the end it got really messed up and ruined the rest of the song.

I completed the D scale and C scale both up and down. I need to keep an even tempo and make sure I make the notes loud enough. I completed 8 lines of 'Wake Me Up' and I'm still working on the chorus. I need to remember all of the melody and chords for the chorus.

We were working on the chorus and the chords. This time round the C and D scale was easier to do. I kept on getting stuck on the 3rd line of the song.

C and D scale was completed with an even pace. Doing the chords and notes from "So wake me up..." is harder than I expected and it will take a while to play at a decent speed.

I completed all of the major scales that start with a white note and D flat (which is a black note). I've learned that the scales always go: whole-whole-half-whole-whole-whole-half. I have to complete 2 lines of the chorus with both hands. Try to read "Read All About It part III" and play along to help.17/10/2016
I completed the major scales that start with a white note. It took me a little longer than I expected seen as it didn't take me very long last week. I need to work on the chords D, E and F# for Read All About It.
Next week Mr Eldred told me that I need to repeat the chorus multiple times to improve my skills.

I completed all of the major scales that start with a white note. I learned the chord inversions for the C chord. I did really well with the verse of "Wake Me Up". I need to practise the 1st half of the chorus.

I completed the major scales on the white note. Mr Eldred told me that "Wake Me Up" needs a little bit more persistence. We've spent too long on this song and I feel like we should move on. I've decided that we won't be doing "Wake Me Up" next week. I find the chorus very hard when both hands are together. I have started to learn "Read All About It - Part III". This song has the same chords as the song I was playing before but they're arranged in a different way.

I learnt how to read notations. I played some of 'Read All About It'. I played chords and melody separately first, then together afterwards.21/11/2016
I completed the major scales C, G# and D##. I read the notations for 'Read All About It' most of them were D's, E's and F#'s. I played the chords and notes separately. I learned the rhythms/lengths of the different notations.
